Ternate City is the largest city in the province of North Maluku in Indonesia and part of the islands of Maluku. It's off the western coast of Halmahera's much larger island. Ternate Island alone has a population of just over 200,000 in an area of 101.49 km2; including the surrounding islands that are part of the city administratively, the city has a population of just under 220,000 on some 162.03 km2.
