The Climate Resilient and Inclusive Cities (CRIC) Project ensured cities’ needs for an inclusive and climate-resilient goal by linking them with the right partners. It was conducted through a five-day Focus Group Discussion (FGD) in thematic sectors from 1 to 4 February and 11 February 2021. The FGD was held as a follow-up action after the Urban Analysis Report (UAR) publication in 2020. The report altogether with the result of FGD provides the basis for tool development to help pilot cities to solve their climate challenges in three priority sectors: waste management, water and sanitation, and early warning system (EWS).

Join CRIC, in collaboration with the Indonesia Ministry of Environment and Forestry and Ministry of Home Affairs, on December 10, for a free webinar on the topic "Integrating Inclusive Climate Resilience Issues in City Development and Planning," from 9 to 11:30 AM (UTC+7).

This is the second event of the CRIC webinar series seeking to provide a knowledge-sharing platform to discuss opportunities and challenges in creating a climate resilient and inclusive city. In this second webinar, CRIC will invite speakers from Indonesian ministries and urban planners who will provide policy guidance and insights to Indonesian cities that are formulating their Medium Term Regional Development Plans (RPJMD). CRIC aims to help these cities integrate climate resilience and inclusivity into their RPJMD.

We are delighted to announce that we have updated the Pilot Cities pages, adding the Urban Analysis Reports written by the experts on each of the ten pilot cities pages.

These presentations provide a deep insight on the general situation and challenges met by the different pilot cities in terms of Resilience against Climate Change and Inclusivity. The main topics covered by those Urban Analysis Reports are the way cities are impacted by climate change, disasters, air pollution, waste management, water pollution, and the participation of civil society and governance.

In addition, Policy briefs redacted by CRIC partners and built upon the findings of the CRIC experts have been released as well. In those briefs, partners provide insight and additionnal recommendations on how cities could become more resilient and inclusive.

The Urban Thinkers Campus (UTC) is a UN-Habitat driven World Urban Campaign initiative. The UTC is conceived as an open space for critical exchange between urban researchers, experts and decision-makers who believe urbanization is an opportunity and can contribute to meaningful urban transformations. It is also intended as a forum to create consensus among stakeholders engaged in addressing urbanization challenges and proposing solutions to urban futures.

In this session focused on Making Chennai a Climate Smart City, Dr. Pascaline Gaborit from Pilot4Dev will discuss urban resilience (and disasters risk management) in the Urban Labs session. This will be a good opportunity to promote the CRIC project !!!

The cost of delaying climate actions would be considerably higher than the cost of acting now, said European Union Ambassador to Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam HE Vincent Piket to 153 people attending the interactive webinar entitled “Mainstreaming Climate Resilience in City Planning” on 27 October 2020 hosted by CRIC, as part of the European Union Climate Diplomacy Week.

Over the course of three hours, panellists from the Indonesian ministries discussed national priorities in climate resilience, policies and regulations to support city-level climate programme and climate financing mechanisms. The participants are government representatives from 43 Indonesian cities and regencies, including Vice Mayor of Kupang and Vice Mayor of Surakarta.

CRIC Project held a successful webinar on “Climate Resilient and Inclusive Urban Development” on Tuesday, (20/10), as part of the Indonesia Ministry of Environment & Forestry’s (MoEF) Climate Festival, with around 150 attendants. This event represents the growing importance of multi-level governance on climate change, of which the CRIC Project can help to set in motion.
